Diverse professional team in modern corporate office
Careers

Work that
actually matters.

Jan Law Consulting is a boutique corporate advisory practice where every engagement carries consequence and every professional carries real responsibility. This is not a training ground. It is a place where serious people do serious work at the standard it deserves.

The Environment

A practice built on standards, not structures.

The practice is small by design. Every person here works directly on the matters that define the practice's reputation. There are no layers between the work and the professional doing it. That demands a certain kind of person, and it produces a certain kind of career.

Principal Involvement

Every engagement runs through the practice's principal. Work here is not delegated down. That means what you produce is what the client receives, and the standard you are held to reflects that directly.

Real Accountability

Boutique practice means there is nowhere to hide behind a team and no credit to share when something goes well. Both of those are features. The people who thrive here are the ones who want it that way.

Intellectual Rigour

The work requires genuine analytical depth. Regulatory frameworks, commercial contract structures, governance architecture — these are not topics you fake your way through. The practice expects fluency and rewards it.

Senior Data Analyst
Analytics & Contract Intelligence — Reporting to Principal

Jan Law Consulting is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to build, own, and operate the practice's analytical capabilities across contract portfolio intelligence, regulatory risk mapping, and client engagement reporting. This is not a back office support role. The analyst functions as a core delivery contributor, working directly alongside the practice principal on client engagements where data analysis shapes commercial and legal strategy.

The right candidate understands that in a boutique advisory practice, the analyst's output lands directly in front of sophisticated clients. There is no intermediate layer. The work must be accurate, defensible, and presented with the clarity that decision making demands.

What you will do
Design and execute quantitative analyses of client contract portfolios, surfacing risk concentrations, liability gaps, regulatory compliance shortfalls, and renewal exposures across large bodies of commercial agreements
Build reusable analytical models for contract portfolio review, indemnification flow mapping, and counterparty risk aggregation that can be deployed across multiple client engagements
Produce client ready data visualisations, dashboards, and reporting packages that translate complex analytical findings into clear, practical intelligence
Support the development of the practice's proprietary risk assessment frameworks, incorporating regulatory data, market benchmarks, and enforcement records across FAR, HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, and applicable state privacy frameworks
Collaborate directly with the practice principal on client presentations, proposal development, and engagement planning where analytical depth underpins the advisory position
Maintain data integrity protocols, source documentation standards, and audit ready analytical records across all client work product
What we require
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
Minimum five years of professional experience in data analysis, with at least two of those years in a legal services, financial services, consulting, or regulatory compliance environment
Advanced proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, statistical modelling, and automated reporting. Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate live analytical capability.
Expert level SQL for data extraction, transformation, and management across structured datasets
Demonstrated command of data visualisation tools including Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent. The ability to produce board ready reporting is non negotiable.
Working familiarity with at least one major regulatory framework governing data and commercial contracts — HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, FAR, or CCPA. This is a hard requirement, not a preference.
Exceptional written communication skills. The analyst writes analytical narratives, not just produces charts. Cover letters that do not demonstrate this capacity will not advance.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent analytical workstreams under deadline, with full ownership of quality and accuracy
What distinguishes the strongest candidates
Experience in contract analytics, legal operations data, or ediscovery platforms
Certification in data science, analytics, or a related discipline (e.g. Google Professional Data Analytics, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Tableau Desktop Specialist, or equivalent)
Prior exposure to legal or regulatory compliance environments where analytical output informed legal strategy or client advisory positions
Apply for This Role Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Deadline: Open until filled.

Contracts Specialist
Contract Intelligence — Reporting to Principal

The Contracts Specialist sits at the operational core of the practice's Contract Intelligence discipline. This person reviews, drafts, redlines, and supports the negotiation of commercial agreements across technology, financial services, regulated industries, and international organisations. The work requires both technical precision and the commercial intelligence to know what actually matters in a negotiation.

This role demands a professional who can hold a position under pressure, explain a legal consequence in plain terms to a non lawyer executive, and produce work product that the practice principal can deliver to a client without further editing. That last sentence is the standard. Everything else follows from it.

What you will do
Review, redline, and draft a wide range of commercial agreements including SaaS and technology contracts, master services agreements, data processing addenda, vendor agreements, subcontracts, and governance documents
Apply the practice's three layer compliance framework — contract drafting standards, institutional policies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements — to every matter reviewed
Produce issue memoranda, position papers, and negotiation playbooks that clearly identify risk, recommend positions, and anticipate counterparty responses
Support the practice principal in client facing negotiations, including preparing position summaries, tracking changes across redline rounds, and documenting agreed positions
Maintain and develop the practice's template library, standard position documents, and contract management protocols
What we require
A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree. Bar admission is preferred but not required for this role. Candidates without bar admission must demonstrate equivalent contract expertise through experience and work samples.
Minimum three years of experience in contracts, procurement, or commercial legal work. Experience in a corporate legal department, government contracting environment, or legal operations function is strongly valued.
Working knowledge of at least one sector specific regulatory framework — FAR or DFARS, HIPAA or FERPA, GDPR or CCPA. Applications that do not address regulatory fluency will not advance.
CTCM, CTCD, or equivalent professional contracting certification is a meaningful advantage. The practice holds these certifications and respects candidates who do as well.
Demonstrated ability to produce tracked changes redlines, issue memoranda, and position papers that are professional in format and precise in substance
Strong written communication skills. Work samples will be requested. Generic cover letters that do not address the role's specific requirements will not be considered.
Apply for This Role Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Work samples required.

Legal Operations Associate
Legal Operations & Client Delivery — Reporting to Principal

The Legal Operations Associate supports the design, implementation, and management of legal operations infrastructure across client engagements. This role sits at the intersection of process, technology, and commercial law — working to build the systems that make a legal or procurement function measurably more effective than it was before the engagement began.

The practice deploys this discipline across organisations that range from growth stage technology companies to regulated institutions and international NGOs. No two engagements are identical. The associate must be adaptable, precise, and capable of building infrastructure from first principles rather than applying a template and calling it done.

What you will do
Design and implement contract lifecycle management workflows, intake processes, approval routing systems, and obligation tracking frameworks for client organisations
Build and maintain client facing template libraries, contract playbooks, standard position documents, and training materials that reflect each organisation's standards and risk tolerance
Conduct legal operations maturity assessments for new clients, identifying capability gaps, workflow inefficiencies, and compliance vulnerabilities that the engagement will address
Support the practice principal in embedded operations engagements, working directly within client teams as the primary operational contact
Research and evaluate legal technology platforms, AI contract review tools, and workflow automation solutions for client recommendation and implementation
Track and report on engagement deliverables, milestone completion, and client outcome metrics across active engagements
What we require
Bachelor's degree required. A degree in law, business, information science, or a related discipline is preferred. A J.D. or relevant graduate degree is an advantage.
Minimum two years of experience in a legal operations, contracts management, procurement, or compliance function. Experience in a consulting or professional services environment is valued.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management platforms (Ironclad, Icertis, Agiloft, ContractWorks, or equivalent) and the ability to configure and deploy them for client use
Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent deliverables. PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification is a meaningful advantage.
Analytical capability sufficient to identify workflow bottlenecks, quantify process inefficiencies, and present improvement recommendations with supporting data
Professional written communication skills. The associate produces client deliverables. Those deliverables must meet the practice's standard without requiring substantial revision.
CLMP (Certified Legal Manager Professional), CTCM, or equivalent legal operations certification is valued and respected.
Apply for This Role Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Portfolio or work samples welcome.
What the practice stands for

The standard is the culture.

01
The work speaks first

Every professional is judged by what they produce, not what they say about what they produce. Titles matter less than track records. The practice has no patience for performance without substance.

02
Discretion is non negotiable

Client confidentiality is not a policy the practice enforces. It is the personal standard of everyone who works here. The practice's clients trust it with consequential matters. That trust is sacred.

03
Diversity is a strength, not a statement

The practice serves clients across multiple continents and regulatory environments. The perspectives, lived experiences, and professional backgrounds of everyone here make the work better. That is not a slogan. It is the reason the practice actively seeks them.

04
Growth is earned, not given

The practice rewards professionals who expand their capability and take on greater responsibility with demonstrated competence. There are no automatic promotions. There are also no artificial ceilings for people who earn them.

How to Apply

The process is direct.
So is the standard.

Applications are reviewed by the practice principal. There are no keyword filters or automated screening tools. Every application is read by the person who will make the hiring decision.

Submit your application through the role specific link above. Include a cover letter that addresses the specific requirements of the role. Generic cover letters will not advance. Work samples, where requested, are treated as seriously as the application itself.

The practice does not make decisions on timeline. The process ends when the right candidate is identified. That typically takes between two and four weeks from initial application to offer.
