Contract cycle time often begins to fail before anyone starts reviewing the agreement.

Contract cycle time often begins to fail before anyone starts reviewing the agreement.

Start with ownership

Every request should have a clear business owner, purpose, counterparty, priority, target date, and source of authority.

Gather the right information once

A strong intake process captures the agreement, supporting documents, commercial terms, privacy and security considerations, funding, procurement history, and stakeholders at the beginning.

Prioritize with discipline

Urgency should not be defined only by who asks most loudly. Materiality, business dependency, regulatory sensitivity, and realistic deadlines should inform priority.
