Innovation that survives the operating model

Most innovation programs fail on the day the pilot ends. The operating model is where credibility is earned or lost.

The idea is the easy part

A defensible idea is a small share of the work. The larger share is the sequence of decisions about ownership, funding, governance, and measurement that lets the idea run at scale.

Operating model before rollout

Before an innovation is scaled, the organization should be able to describe who owns it, how it is funded, how it is measured, and how it interacts with existing lines.

The pilot is a decision, not a demonstration

A well designed pilot resolves a specific question. If the pilot cannot change the plan, it is a showcase and should be labeled that way.
